Kirkwood G uest House

Mags and Boyd McCrickerd welcome you to the Kirkwood Web Site.  We hope you will be interested enough in Kirkwood and our area of the Lake District to come and stay.

Located in a quiet corner of Windermere towards Bowness, Kirkwood is built of traditional Lakeland Stone.

Kirkwood Guest House in the English Lake District village of Windermere is ideally positioned for exploring the Cumbrian Lakes.

Kirkwood is situated  between  Windermere and Bowness two bustling holiday towns at the north end of Lake Windermere.

Open all year we provide an ideal base for your Lakeland holiday. Whichever season you should decide to visit we offer a warm welcome.

Kirkwood Guest House has been a family concern for the past 16 years, during which we have been recommended in the 'Michelin Guide'

We have also won a Gold Award in the 'WHICH?' Best Bed & Breakfast Guide.

All rooms are en-suite four of which have four poster beds.  There is also a ground floor bedroom for the not so mobile guests.

Our home is strictly Non Smoking with a friendly atmosphere offering a welcome feeling at all times.

Kirkwood's comfortable lounge is always available to relax in with a welcoming warmth, for the less clement days .

We can organise flowers, chocolate and sparkling wine for those special occasions, prices can vary according to requirements.

In the morning we offer a full English Breakfast Menu, also being happy to cater for lighter diets along with vegetarian and other special requirements.

In the evening there is a vast variety of restaurants and eating houses nearby in both Windermere and Bowness, as well many Public Houses offering traditional bar meals with a range of local brewed beers on offer.

As we enjoy walking and are lovers of this most beautiful area, we are able to advise on all aspects of your holiday.

Whatever your interests, we are here to help you to make the absolute most out of your holiday. You can go walking along the beach paths, or climbing mountains.

Several famous authors made the Lake District their home, and their houses are open for the public to see.  Spend a day in ‘Beatrix Potters World’ in Bowness, or why not see William Wordsworth’s home, ‘Dove Cottage’ in Grasmere.

Mags and Boyd look forward to welcoming you to their friendly Lakeland Guest House.
